How much does embryo donation/adoption cost?

Embryo Donation usually costs nothing to the donor family.

For the recipient family, the cost to receive embryos are usually as follows:

Legal Fees: A standard legal contract and processing usually runs between $500 – 2000.

Shipment of Embryos: The shipment of the embryos to your clinic usually costs $400-500.

Medical Expenses: $2,500-$3,500. Depending on the clinic, most doctors charge an flat fee which includes all appointments, sonograms, and the frozen embryo transfers (FET). There is usually an additional fee to use the laboratory, embryologist, and facilities for the Embryo Transfer.

Medication: Depending on the medication that your doctor chooses to prescribe and your insurance coverage, your cost here can vary. The fertility drugs usually prescribed are Estrogen and Progesterone. These are usually pretty inexpensive and covered by insurance, at least partially. But depending on your fertility doctor and on your needs, your doctor maybe will prescribe you other medications as well.

Embryos: While it is illegal for anyone to sell their embryos, it can cost $0-10,000 for you to locate your embryos depending on the method you use. If you use Miracles Waiting to try to find a family with extra embryos available for donation and contact the donors families on your own, you only pay Miracles Waiting the membership fee to gain access to embryos donors ads/profiles. Using an agency to find embryos for you, the agency fee can run $5,000-15,000 to match you with a donor family. This fee sometimes will include the legal contract. Agencies, most of the time, also require a Home Study and that is usually extra.

The cost of embryo adoption doesn’t have to be expensive if you a willing to do the leg work yourself.

Our program is entirely web based and works as a matching service for donors and recipients. This allows the donors/recipients to make “known” donations and for both the donors and recipients to create the agreement and relationship they want. It is always up to the family donating the embryos who they pick for their embryos and not us.

We do not do the matching. Most donations arranged through Miracles Waiting are known donations and, at a minimum, you will have email contact directly with the donor families.

The way we work at Miracles Waiting, recipients pay a membership fee to post a profile (if they want) and also are able to contact (or be contacted) by potential donors. All we do is facilitate the match between the donor and the recipient. The rest will be between the donors and you. Both of the clinics (yours and the donors) should help guide you and the donor through the process of embryo donation, as each clinic has different requirements.
