Loving family looking to expand
Hi! We’re Ginny and Doug.
We live in Northern Virginia with my 7 year old son and our little black pug, Mushu. Our home is a warm, happy one. There are family dinners, bedtime stories, a steady supply of shark and Pokémon facts (courtesy of Caleb), and a pug who is sure every lap belongs to her. We are hoping to grow our family through embryo adoption, and we’d love for you to get to know us.
OUR STORY:
I always wanted two children. My first husband and I hoped to have a second child, but he passed away from liver disease before we could.
Then Doug came into our lives, completely unexpectedly. He has become my rock, my soul mate, and an incredible stepfather to Caleb. I never knew love could be so healthy, deep, and natural. We truly are an incredible team together. Doug has already shown, every single day, that he can welcome a child who isn’t biologically his and love him as his own. Watching the two of them together made us realize something: I don’t have to give up my dream of two children, and Doug doesn’t have to give up his dream of being a daddy to a baby.
Doug and I are getting married in March and we’re starting this journey now so that we have time to find the right match.
WHY EMBRYO ADOPTION:
Adoption has been close to my heart for as long as I can remember. My father was adopted, and I’ve always thought I might one day adopt too. We know the traditional adoption path can be very long and emotionally trying. Embryo adoption feels like a beautiful fit for our family: we get to adopt a baby and I get to carry that baby, nurturing them from the very beginning.
We know that choosing a family for your embryos is a deeply personal decision. We’d love to stay connected through updates and talk together about what kind of contact feels right for everyone. You would always have a place in our child’s story, and we’d want that story told with love and gratitude. We will strive to make sure our baby doesn’t grow up feeling like they weren’t wanted by their birth parents – but rather knowing that they were loved by not just one but TWO sets of parents!
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know our family. We hope to meet you!
- Snapshot of my life and family:
I founded a nonprofit in my brother's memory after he died of an overdose because I wanted other families to find the support and hope my family had needed. Building the foundation has been a huge part of my life, and it reflects something Doug and I both care about deeply: showing up for people with compassion.
But my favorite job is being a mom. My son is the sweetest little boy (everyone says so, I swear I'm not just biased!!) and he’s going to be a wonderful big brother.
Doug is warm, patient, and a wonderful listener. He’s the person I go to with the hard stuff, and I always come away feeling understood. He had a successful career in hospitality management, taught a grad school course on it, and is now an executive at a behavioral health tech company.
Something that Doug and I bonded over is our shared commitment to health. We have both run marathons, exercise regularly, and eat well. We’re also both sober (him for 17 years and me for 14), and caring for our mental, spiritual, and physical health is a big part of our lives. We want to show our kids what it looks like to take care of yourself and others, and to build a home where they know they can come to us with anything.
GETTING READY FOR A BABY:
We’ve thought a lot about what welcoming a baby will mean for our family. I plan to leave my job once I’m pregnant so I can focus fully on my health and our family. After years of pouring myself into work I love, I’m ready (and really excited!) to give my time and energy to this next chapter, with all its ordinary, wonderful moments.
