Two Librarians Hoping to Add a New Chapter

Hi, my name’s Brigid, and I’m exploring the possibility of expanding my family through embryo donation/adoption. My husband Antonio and I live and work in the suburbs of New Orleans, where we spend our time trying new restaurants, going to the movies, attending festivals, visiting museums, and spending time with family and friends. We are both librarians at our local public library. My husband works as a Reference librarian, while I get to have fun and make connections with our community through creating programs for older adults, people with disabilities and families. We met at work, and have been togeher since early 2021. As far as hobbies, my husband is a big sports fan (especially soccer) and I’m a quilter and sewist.

Outside of our local activities, we love planning vacations as well as trips to visit family and friends. We have friends across the state and beyond. My husband’s parents split time between north Louisiana and Savannah, GA while his extended family live mostly in California. My mother lives in Tennessee with her husband. My father lives around the corner from us with my stepmother. My husband has two brothers, but I’m an only child.

We own our home on a quiet street across from a beautiful new park and a dog park. We have four well loved cats, and we are hoping to add a human baby to make our family complete.

Fertility story:
My husband and I started trying to conceive in 2023, but it was discovered I had uterine fibroids and PCOS which was causing anovulatory periods. The process of having the fibroids surgically removed, a D&C to be sure my uterus was healthy, and attempting to put off weight before starting IVF ate up precious time. We have now completed three egg retrievals and, heartbreakingly, have ended up with zero heathy embryos. We have come too far to give up on our dream of being parents, and we are looking into embryo adoption as another option to build our family.
