Amy & Jimmy — A Little Jersey, a Little Southern, a Florida Family
We’re Amy and Jimmy, ages 42 and 52, from Lakeland, Florida. We found each other later in life, meeting during COVID and marrying in May 2022. Amy grew up in New Jersey and lived in New York City and Boston, while Jimmy grew up in a small town outside Memphis. Our family brings together those different backgrounds, with plenty of music, animals, family traditions, and time around the dinner table.
Amy works in digital commerce leadership, and Jimmy is a stay-at-home dad to our three-year-old daughter. We have close relationships with our extended families, and involved grandparents are an important part of our daughter’s childhood.
Our Christian faith is central to our lives. We attend a nondenominational church in the Vineyard tradition and serve through worship, grounds crew, and children’s ministry. We also host a monthly church dinner club, and Amy leads a Christian employee community at work.
We hope to welcome one more child through embryo donation. We would speak openly with our child about their beginnings and honor their connection to their genetic family. We’re open to discussing a donor relationship that feels comfortable for both families, with honest expectations and our child’s well-being at the center.
- Snapshot of my life and family:
Our everyday life includes Montessori preschool, ballet, a little girl singing her favorite songs, and plenty of activity from our animals. Jimmy is home with our daughter while Amy works, and our extended family is closely involved. We enjoy hosting holidays and gatherings and creating traditions our children can grow up with.
Our daughter loves music, dancing, dressing up, and animals. Her current favorite songs are “Jesus Loves Me” and “Gratitude” by Brandon Lake, and her teachers have mentioned that she sings to herself at school. She is observant and curious, and we love watching her interests and personality develop.
A child joining our family would be welcomed into a home with involved grandparents, church friends, music, pets, and opportunities to explore and learn. We want both our children to feel secure in their place in our family and to know that different beginnings do not change how fully they belong.
- Fertility story:
We conceived our daughter naturally and welcomed her in May 2023. When we began trying to grow our family again, we experienced secondary infertility. Because of Amy’s diminished ovarian reserve and uncertainty about egg quality, our doctors have recommended donor eggs or donor embryos.
Embryo donation resonates with our belief that life begins at conception and our hope to welcome one more child. Before becoming pregnant with our daughter, we had begun the foster-parent approval process, so welcoming a child who does not share our genetics is something we had considered before our fertility challenges.
We are working with Reproductive Medicine Group in Tampa and understand that embryo donation involves medical review, legal agreements, and uncertainty about whether a transfer will result in a pregnancy. We want to approach the process thoughtfully, with respect for the donor family and the child’s future needs. Consistent with our beliefs, any remaining embryos would need to be returned to the donor family or re-donated.

- Final Thoughts (This are is for both embryo donors and embryo recipients. Please clarify any answers from above or include any info you would like to share):
We recognize that choosing a family for your embryos is a deeply personal decision, and we welcome the opportunity to get to know one another without pressure. We’re happy to share more about our home, answer questions, and hear what matters most to you.
Our hope is to welcome one more child. We would raise our child knowing their beginnings and respecting their connection to their genetic family. We’re open to discussing ongoing contact thoughtfully, with clear expectations and room for relationships to develop naturally. Access to family medical history and future updates is important to us.
We believe any embryos remaining after our family is complete should be returned to the donor family or re-donated, never discarded or donated for research. While our Christian faith shapes our home, we welcome conversations with donor families from other faith backgrounds.
